“Lee Lee, what the hell happened in there? You were gone with that man for hours—and why is your hair sweated out?” she asked once they were inside of the cold car.

“I did what I had to do,” Lee Lee said. “Now, please, can you turn some heat on and drive off before Jayden tries to find me?”

“Not until you tell me what you did!”

Lee Lee reached into her chain link purse and pulled out a disk. Holding it up so Faye could see it, she could make out something scribbled on the front of it. On top it read: Outside camera 4, and under that was a date. The same day that her mother was murdered. Lee Lee had gotten the video footage. Faye gasped once she realized what it was.

  “Fuck, Lee Lee . . .”

  “Drive.”

  Chapter 8

  Lee Lee

  “So, we meet again.”

His voice sent shivers down her spine, but then again, that could have been the Crown Royal she just swallowed. She sidestepped so that she could be between him and Faye.

Damn, he’s even finer than I remember, she thought.

Jayden Vincent stood before her wearing a silk burgundy button-up with a pair of tan pants and pair of burgundy loafers. He smelled so heavenly that Lee Lee almost put her neck in his neck just to inhale him. She slowly batted her eyes at him seductively. Although she’d only had one drink, she had drunk it on an empty stomach, and she felt her tip come faster than usual. He wasn’t just looking like a snack. He was the fried chicken, macaroni, greens, and the corn bread.

“I guess we do,” she said. “You stalking me or something?”

“I mean,” Jayden looked her up and down, allowing his eyes to linger on her thighs before they settled on her full lips, “you’re looking fine enough to stalk. Who did you come in here to meet? That nigga you were on the phone with the other day?”

“Ha-ha, very funny,” she said. “But I’m actually just out with my girl for the night. We decided to step out, get our dance thing popping.”

“Is that right?” Jayden’s eyes twinkled slightly as he stared at her.

  “That’s right.”

“Is this your first time here?” he asked.

“No, I’ve been here once or twice before. Now that I think about it, I’ve seen you around before.”

“Either me or my brother. Our father owns the place, and we just help run it.”

“Oh really?” Lee Lee acted as if she didn’t know. “That’s dope. Kind of like this Gucci shirt you’re rocking. I like it.”

“How do you know this is Gucci? Did I leave the tag on or something?”

She laughed as he patted himself down and shook her head.

“No, I just have an eye for nice things. I used to be a booster,” she said and shrugged her shoulders. “And I don’t care if you judge me because, shit, I had to eat. But when I was doing that, I discovered I have a knack for being able to eye a piece of clothing and know instantly who the designer is.”

“One thing you should know about me is that I don’t judge anyone,” he told her, moving a little closer. “Least of all someone as beautiful as you. The world we’re living in today isn’t easy for anybody.”

“Yea, some people have it easier than others.” Lee Lee looked around the club and then winked at him.

  “Oh, you taking shots now?”

“Not really a shot, just stating a fact.”

“I don’t judge you, but you judge me. Ain’t that some shit?” he said, and she giggled again. “Contrary to what you may believe, being the son to a man as powerful as my father is, nothing is easy. Just because I have some money in my pocket doesn’t mean that other parts in my life aren’t lacking.”

“Enlighten me,” Lee Lee said, leaning into him so he knew she was not intimidated by him.

She stared up into his eyes intensely, opening herself up to him. She didn’t know what it was that he saw in her eyes. Whatever it was made him place his hand on her face and stroke it gently with his thumb.

“Another time,” he said. “Right now, how about I take you on a tour of the club?”

“Well, I’ve already seen everything down here.”

“What about the upstairs? I bet you didn’t know that there is a restaurant up there, right?”

  “Really? Is it open?”

  “For you? Always. Come on.”

“Okay. Let me make sure my girl is all right with that. Hey, are you good?” Lee Lee asked when she leaned back and set her glass down on the bar. When Faye nodded, Lee Lee gave her a look and said, “OK, cool. Jayden is about to show me the upstairs of the club. I shouldn’t be gone too long.”

“She can come too if she wants,” Jayden offered.

“Nah, y’all go ahead,” Quez said. “She’s cool right where she’s at.”

Jayden shrugged and offered Lee Lee his arm. She gladly took it, and they walked away. Faye had looked at her as though she was crazy, but they’d come there to get the security footage of the night her mother had been murdered. There was no way that her look-alike ass would have been able to even get past Jayden’s security upstairs without questions being asked. Lee Lee just hoped that by going wherever Jayden went would lead her to where she needed to be. She also hoped that his charm wouldn’t distract her from what she needed to do.

“So how old is your son?”

  “Huh?”

“Your son, how old is he?”

“Oh, I’m sorry,” Lee Lee said. As they walked through the crowds of people, she noticed many curious eyes on the pair. “He’s three.”

  “That’s a good age. What’s his name?”

“Jaymar. That’s my little man right there,” Lee Lee said, smiling fondly, thinking about her son.

Jayden led her through a door on the side of the club where two big men were standing in front of. They nodded at him and stepped out of his way so that he and Lee Lee could get through. The door led them to a hallway, and at the end of it, there was an elevator to take them to the upper level.

“There actually is a door on the outside where you can get in directly to the restaurant, but we can take a shortcut,” he told her when the elevator doors shut. “Did you ever handle your business the other day?”

“Yes, I did,” Lee Lee told him. “Thank you, again, by the way. You must be balling out of control if you can afford to give me five bands like it’s nothing.”

“No man can afford to give any dollar amount away. I looked at it as an investment.”

The elevator doors opened, and he stepped out, but Lee Lee’s feet stayed planted where they were at. She put her hand on her hip and popped it out.

“What do you mean an ‘investment’? I ain’t no ho.”

“I never said you were,” Jayden said, but when he saw that she still wasn’t going to budge he elaborated. “I invested in your life. Everybody needs some help, and the vibe I get from you is that you’re a good mother. If I can contribute to a black kid growing up into a healthy black man, then I’m going to do it. Now, will you come on? I have a taste for some hot wings.”

Satisfied with his answer, Lee Lee stepped out of the elevator.

“Whoa,” she said when she took in her surroundings.

It was like a blast from the past. She was in the jazziest, snazziest restaurant that she’d ever seen. Along the black and red walls were framed portraits of famous black musicians, and in the far left corner, there were three long steps that led to a piano on a stage. The tables and booths were black on the red-carpeted floor, and every seat had a menu in front of it. Playing softly from the speakers was a beautiful jazz melody, and Lee Lee felt her body swaying as she walked.

“This is so nice,” she breathed.

“Thanks,” Jayden said, looking around. “It was my idea to put this up here. I like the old-school vibe.”

“Really? I thought the party downstairs was more your scene.”

“Why so?” Jayden pulled out a chair for her.

“I mean, I don’t know,” Lee Lee shrugged after sh
e sat down. “You’re young and fine. I guess I figured you were like the rest of the niggas your age. All about the turnup and partying.”

“That shit is cool. Don’t get me wrong, I’m more of a chill type of nigga, though. I just like to vibe and enjoy my time, honestly.”

  “Old soul, I like that.”

“What you’re really gon’ like is these wings. I’ll be right back, shorty. Let me go put them in the oil.”

“Where’s the chef?” she asked curiously.

She leaned back and looked around him at the kitchen. The lights were off, and it seemed as they were the only ones up there. Jayden put his arms out and smiled.

  “You’re looking at him.”

  “Uhhh . . .”

“No faith!” Jayden laughed and backed away from the table. “I’ll be right back.”

He went into the kitchen, and Lee Lee watched him navigate smoothly around it through a rectangular opening in the wall. A man that could cook was always a turn-on, and from what she could see, it seemed as though he knew what he was doing. Shortly after she heard the grease popping from chicken being dropped in it, he returned. The sleeves to his button-up were rolled up to his elbows, and he sat down across from her. He grabbed his phone from his pocket and slid it over to her, and she looked at it, wondering what she was supposed to do with it.

“I know how you women act at the end of the night, so I’m asking for your number now.”

“That doesn’t sound like a question to me.”

“Please, will you put your number in my phone, Lee Lee Badass?” he tried again, and she smiled.

“That’s what my name is going to be in your phone, too, since you want to be smart. All your little girlfriends are going to wonder who I am.”

She opened his phone, surprised that he didn’t have a locked code, and went to his contacts. In his phone, there were only a handful of numbers saved, all of them men. She wanted to say something about it but figured it wasn’t her place to dig into his personal life like that. When she slid his phone back across the table, he put it away and clasped his hands together. He had a thick scar on his right hand, like he’d been sliced with something sharp, like glass. She liked it; it gave him character. His eyes stared at her as if he was looking for something that he didn’t want to find if it meant that he had to look away. His gaze made her squirm in her seat. She couldn’t read his expression, and she wondered what thoughts were going through his mind.

“You’re looking at me like you want to bite me.”

  “I do.”

His response shocked her, and when he licked his lips, she had to suck her teeth.

Damn, Faye. Why does your brother have to be so fine? I’m not even gon’ front like I’m tryin’a hold this pussy from him. Yup . . . He can get it right on this table if he wants to.

Her chest rose up and down slowly as she grew warm between her legs. She felt herself grow wetter with each nasty thought that entered her mind. She imagined how his stroke game was, and if he liked it slow or fast. Probably both, yeah . . . Baby looked like he could put it down. And those lips? They would be so beautiful wrapped around her swollen clit. See, Lee Lee didn’t just like to be licked on. She liked for her lover to suck on her pussy like a Jolly Rancher, the blue kind. The two of them fucked each other with their eyes for minutes, and she wondered what he was imagining doing to her. She wouldn’t know unless she asked.

“Are you thinking about how well you’d fuck me, or how well you’d kiss all over my pussy?” Her voice came out as a purr.

  “Mmm . . . bold. I like that.”

“We can play ‘Get to Know You’ later,” Lee Lee told him. “Right now, I want you to tell me what you’re thinking at this very moment.”

  “Right now?”

  “Yes. Right now.”

“I’m thinking about how beautiful you are. And how much more beautiful you’d be with your face scrunched up.”

“Is that right? And what’s going to have my face scrunched up, Jayden?”

  “Come here and find out.”

Lee Lee’s legs responded before the statement even completely registered in her mind. Before she knew it, she had straddled him and could feel his hard erection pressed against her engorged clit. While she was walking over to him, he must have undone his belt and slid his pants down. She reached her hand down and stroked him slowly through the hole in the front of his boxers. She moaned at the size of him.

I knew he was going to have a big dick.

Her lips found his, and she kissed him deeply, sucking on his tongue for as long as she could. His lips were so soft, and he kissed her back tenderly. He pulled her dress down, and when released, her breasts bounced freely. He broke the kiss with her lips so that he could wrap his lips around her dark brown nipples. As he sucked and nibbled, his hands made their way to her ass.

“Damn, shorty, you’re so thick!” He palmed her cheeks and made them jiggle in his hands.

In her hand, she felt his dick jump from excitement. He was ready, and so was she.

  “You want this pussy?”

  “Mmm-hmm.”

“OK,” she said, pulling his manhood through his boxer’s slit. “But listen—”

“I’m not gon’ judge you for this, shorty. Don’t trip,” Jayden said.

“That’s sweet, but that’s not what I was going to say.” She licked his bottom lip. “I was going to tell you that I’m a nasty bitch who likes to do nasty shit. So don’t be hiding in my bushes after this.”

On the last word, she pushed her panties to the side and slid him inside of her. His dick had to be ten inches at least, and its thickness awakened senses that had never been touched before. Her face twisted up in pleasure as she slid all the way down. She went to bounce back up, but Jayden held her still.

“Nah, let me fuck you, ma. Let me fuck this pussy,” he said to her.

He held her so she wouldn’t fall and stood up. Softly, he laid her on the table, pulling himself out of her so he could position himself on top of her.

“Ooouu!” she moaned. “Put it back. Please . . .”

“This what you want?” he asked, sliding it back in. “Hmm?”

  “Yes, baby,” Lee Lee moaned.

It had been a little over a month since the last time she’d had sex, so it felt like a long time coming. He felt so good inside of her, and the only way to describe it was pure bliss. He worked his love muscle in and out of her and kept telling her to just take it.

“Just let me fuck you,” he breathily whispered in her ear as he plowed deep into her. “Let me treat this pussy.”

He hit her with a mixture of slow and fast strokes that had Lee Lee’s eyes rolling in the back of her head. Her hands went from rubbing his six-pack to scratching up his defined back. Her legs were shaky, but she kept them up and wide open for him.

“That’s right,” he said. “Take this dick. Take it.”

His thrusts grew so powerful that Lee Lee was forced to wrap her legs around his waist. Her arms flew around his shoulders, and she put her face in his neck.

“Ooouu, baby. Ooouu, baby,” she kept moaning over and over while shaking her head.

She could hear how wet she was whenever he pulled out and went back in. She was so gushy, and it turned her on even more that he was not afraid to moan in her ear. He gripped her thighs, and she felt his nails dig into her skin as he pumped.

“Damn, this is some good pussy. Baby girl, you got some good-ass pussy. Can I hurt this pussy?”

  “Yes . . .”

“I said, can I hurt this pussy?”

“Unhh!” Lee Lee squealed at the powerful thrust he gave her. “Yessss!”

“OK,” he breathed and then proceeded to beat her cat up ferociously.

He was pounding into her so mercilessly that the table began to squeak, but neither one of them seemed to care. Lee Lee felt her walls throb and her clit jump.

“Ahhhh! Jayden!” She arched her back and jerked due to the explosion between he
r legs.

He pulled out suddenly and held the tip of his dick in his hands as he grunted over her. Some of his nut trickled through his fingers and fell on her leg. A loud beeping noise sounded from the kitchen, and he got off of her.

“That’s the food,” Jayden said, standing up. “Let me go check on it.”

“Is there a place in here for me to clean up?”

“Yea,” he said, buckling his belt. “To the far right of the elevator, there’s a hallway that leads to my office. I have a full bathroom in it.”

“You must do this often,” she raised her eyebrow at him.

“Nah, I’m just always working and barely home,” he shrugged. “But look, shorty, go get cleaned up and when you come back, be prepared to have the hot wings of your lifetime.”

She climbed off of the table and fixed her dress the best she could. He went into the kitchen, and she followed his directions to his office. When she got to the big room, the doorknob turned easily. Her heart began to beat fast when she flicked on the light. Inside, on top of the desk, was a monitor that showed the sightings of every camera in the building. The view kept switching from camera to camera, but every inch of the club was being covered. She looked behind her to make sure she wasn’t being watched before she shut the door and locked it.

“Hurry up, Lee Lee. Hurry up,” she coached herself. “Where does he keep his security footage copies?”

She walked right past the bathroom and rummaged through all the drawers on the desk. Nothing. She spun around the room until her eyes fell on a tall file cabinet. The only problem was that you needed a key to open it.

“Shit,” she said, putting her hands on her head. Then, she suddenly remembered who she was and where she was from. “A paper clip.”

Her father, Marley, had taught her how to pick a lock when she was just eight years old. He told her it was a skill that she needed to have since they lived in a world where anything could happen. She quickly located a large paper clip and hurried over to the file cabinet. It took her all of thirty seconds to hear the click that she was aiming for. The first two drawers had nothing in them but paperwork, but the last one was gold.
